Change of arrangements for Year 9 and 10 on Thursday 16th March 2023

15th March 2023

Dear Year 9 and 10 Parents and Carers,

Change to arrangements for Year 9 and 10 students on Thursday 16th March 2023

I am writing with reference to my recent letter regarding the arrangements for the teacher strike actions
days on Thursday this week. In light of the staff who are striking today, I have had to review my risk
assessment and regretfully have to advise you that we are now unable to accommodate Year 9 and 10
on site until 11.50am (period 3) on Thursday 16th March. Remote Learning on Thursday 16th March for Period 1 and 2 only
Year 9 and 10 students will be provided with remote learning via Google Classroom. Teachers who are
present in school will be available to ‘live chat’ about the work set via the school email system for the
duration of the lesson. It may be that the teacher is delivering a ‘live’ part to the lesson by Google
Classroom so it is important that your child follows the usual time of lessons throughout the day – here
is a reminder of times for you:

Period 1 8.55am – 10.10am
Period 2 10.30am – 11.45am

Attendance by way of logging on to Google classroom and completing the work is an expectation.
There will be no tutor time session.

Vulnerable Students in Year 9 and 10
A place in school will be offered to all vulnerable students (children with a social worker, children in
care, children with a Child Protection plan, children with an ECHP or HNF). These students will be
provided with lunch in the canteen. Students must arrive at 8.50am and sign in at the main reception.
You will be contacted by the end of the school day today (Wednesday 15th March) to discuss this place.

This decision has not been made without significant consideration and I apologise for the short notice,
and for any inconvenience it may cause you. Please be assured that I have made the decision after
reviewing the risks due to staff absence this week and I have tried to ensure as little time as possible off
site for any learners.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs Kate Finch
