Harwich and Dovercourt’s Year 7 ‘A’ team played their first league game of the season against Colne. The game started in a competitive manor with a relentless surge to win possession of the ball from Alex Ashworth and Ben Jarrett. Colne were the first to get a shot on target but Matt Morgan produced a good save. This lead directly to a counter attack where Charlie Wotton grabbed his first goal of the game. Colne soon hit back with 2 goals in quick succession. Harwich tried to… get back into the game with Tom Newland and Harrison Hunt making some good ground in the opponents half. Charlie Wotton then pounced on a Colne mistake and scored his second of the match.
Half time came which lead to Joe Henderson coming on. He made a string of heroic tackles in the Harwich defence. Cameron Brunsden and Jamie Brunning again tried to make some good yardage for Harwich but it was Colne who scored next. Harwich heads seemed to drop resulting in Matt Morgan making 3 excellent saves during the game and if it wasn’t for his man of the match performance the score would have been more impressive. Colne went onto score another late goal.
End result Harwich 2-4 Colne.
