Year 11 Reward Evening – Prom

Year 11 Reward Evening – Prom
October 3, 2023 Belinda Gosling

Dear Year 11 Parents/Carers,

On the 28th of June 2024 we will be hosting its Class of 2024 Prom as a reward for the hard work, dedication and effort that they will have put into their final academic year here at HDHS. The evening is a celebration that marks the end of their examinations and the end of Key Stage 4.

In order to gain a place at the Year 11 Reward Evening we ask students to sustain an average ATL score of 2.8 or above. We calculate the average based on ATL scores achieved in each of their subjects on the following dates:

  • 5th October
  • 7th December
  • 15th February
  • 2nd May

On occasion, there will be opportunities to boost this average by participating in activities that promote academic achievement and progress. One such activity is bringing their parent or carer along to at least one progress event such as last year’s Year 11 Meet the Core Teacher Evening, next week’s Year 11 Parents Evening, or similar events hosted later on in the academic year.

Once we are able to confidently predict your child will be eligible for the prom they will be provided with a letter confirming this. This will happen at three points: December, March and May. If a student hasn’t become eligible for a place by May 2024 we will make arrangements on an individual basis. These will be based around individual circumstances but there is a significant risk they will not be able to attend our Year 11 Reward Evening.

Tickets will be available to purchase in May and we always endeavour to keep costs as low as possible. We want to add an additional incentive for the first time. We will be recognising Year 11 students who consistently attend school by offering a £1 discount every week that their attendance is 100%. This means that some students will be able to attend for free and many others at a considerably reduced cost.

Thank you once again for your support. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs K Finch
