This year has been an incredibly testing and challenging one for our young people and I have been incredibly impressed with their resilience and adaptability to the changes they have faced.
The last three weeks have given the students the opportunity to settle back into routines, work face to face with teachers and interact with their peers.
Some students have settled back in as if they have never been away whilst others have found things a little more difficult. Whatever category they fall into they all have the opportunity for a fresh start and to “hit the ground running” when we return for term 3.
During the first half term we will be preparing the students for their PPE’s (pre public examinations) which will take place as soon as we return after the May half term. This will give the students and staff an accurate idea of the level they are working at.
To help them prepare for these important examinations, in addition to regular lessons, we will be running a period 5 session (3.00-4.15pm) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in a variety of subjects.
The programme showing what we are offering is below and we would very much appreciate you going through this with your child and encouraging them to attend both days whenever possible. The subjects they choose to attend is up to them.
The sessions will consolidate previous knowledge, work on revision techniques, allow students to seek support on topics they feel they need more help to understand and build confidence.
Over the next year we will be constantly referring to our Year group motto “Make It Happen” and asking what the students are doing to make a success of this final and most important year in their school lives.
A good start would be to attend these sessions and make them part of their daily routine for the next 6 school weeks.
We look forward to supporting the students over the next year as they strive to achieve the very best results they can.
