Arrangements for return to school after the Christmas break

Arrangements for return to school after the Christmas break
December 18, 2020 Belinda Gosling

Thursday 31st December 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

I sincerely hope that this letter finds you and your family in good health during this Christmas break.

Following the recent Government announcement, the arrangements for students to return to school after the Christmas holiday have changed.  Currently, the position is that only vulnerable children and the children of key workers will return on Tuesday 5th January, with 4th January being a non-pupil day to allow training for staff ahead of the online learning period.

There are some vocational exams due to take place in the week beginning 4th January and these will still take place.  On Wednesday January 6th, 5 year 13s have an exam, on Thursday 7th about 30 year 11s and on Friday 8th 15 year 12s and 4 year 11s have an exam.  All students who are involved in these exams know exactly who they are and will have contact on Monday from their teachers regarding remote revision sessions.

Years 11, 12 and 13 will return to on-site learning on 11th January and all other students will return on 18th January.

Subject teachers are available for contact about the work set and live lessons for the duration of the timetabled lesson.  Next week will be Week B. Year teams are available for contact by email for the duration of the school day.

Remote learning may include:

  • Providing online work for pupils/students to complete during the lesson;
  • Providing other resources;
  • Delivering a live or pre-recorded lesson – either audio only or video.

I will contact you again by the end of next week to inform you of any further changes that the Government may make, or to confirm the existing arrangements.  If you have any queries, please email the school, bearing in mind that email communication will be picked up from Monday morning onwards.

I can only apologise for the late notice of these arrangements, as you will be aware the Government has been very late in making changes to the start of term and in communicating these changes with school leaders.

Finally, please can I take this opportunity to wish you a very happy new year.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Finch
