Naomi Wilkinson judges photography competition
November 10, 2017 hdhsadmin

Budding photographers were treated to a visit by a children’s TV celebrity at Harwich & Dovercourt High School. Naomi Wilkinson, who has presented programmes including ‘Milkshake’ for Channel 5, ‘Yuk’ and ‘Fingertips’ for ITV and BBC’s ‘Naomi’s Nightmares of Nature’, ‘Marrying Mum & Dad’, and ‘Wild & Weird’, judged the ‘Amazing Angles’ Photo Competition. She also presented prizes to pupils who entered the competition.

Naomi gave a fascinating talk about her career in television, telling pupils and their parents how she started out as a Butlin’s Redcoat, before getting her break into television. She also showed clips from her wildlife programmes, explaining how important it is to conserve and protect animals in the natural world.

Naomi said, ‘I had a wonderful day visiting Harwich and Dovercourt High School having had the unenviable task of judging their photography competition. There were so many excellent entries that fulfilled the ‘Amazing Angles’ criteria and it was a real treat to be asked to hand out the prizes to the very deserving winners. I’m delighted that this school is encouraging their students to be creative, imaginative and tap into their artistic skills with this annual competition’.

The competition was open to pupils at the high school and local primaries, as well as HDHS staff. The aim was for entrants to take pictures from an unusual angle or perspective. There was a fantastic range of different subjects photographed, with over 50 entries submitted.
