Last weekend Harwich hosted an u16 tournament. Harwich haven’t put out an u16 team for at least 15 years. They came up with strong opposition from Colchester and Sudbury Hockey Club, both squads were made up of 15 years olds against Harwich’s 11-17 year olds. Sudbury and Colchester displayed good attacking against Harwich. Emma Joslin, Lucy Henshall, Jen Morgan, Chloe Turner made up a good defensive line. Abbie Henshall, Abbie Broom, and Eve Garnier played in midfield with Lu…cy Brown, Gabrielle Williams, Faith Eagle and Katherine Hammond taking it in turns to play upfront. Miah Reynolds once again showed her potential in goal, saving shot after shot. Harwich lost both games 5-0 however the Sudbury side were very close to the Suffolk u16 side and our girls demonstrated true spirit and throughly enjoyed the day.
Both Lucy Henshall and Miah Reynolds are patiently awaiting to hear if they have successfully made the Suffolk Development squad.
Junior training starts at the Astro Thursday 15th September with a small charge of £1.30 to cover the cost of the Astro, for girls and boys aged 11-16.
