Year 9 and 10 students had the opportunity to meet with JJ Jegede @jumpingjegede. JJ grew up in Hackney, East London and is a determined athlete who has focus, discipline, encouragement and would advise anyone they can achieve their goals.
When he was 16, JJ’s PE teacher persuaded him to try the long jump, and he excelled.
On his appointment as Athlete Mentor for Sky Sports Living for Sport, JJ comments: “I feel blessed to still be competing despite my numerous setbacks. I w…ant to visit as many schools as possible and show the children that if they keep believing, they can achieve anything!
“I know from my own experience how teachers can make a real difference to young people’s lives and I hope my experiences can help future generations too.”
The students listened to JJ’s Journey from a boy to a successful athlete and took part in a practical session.
