The Year 7 Rugby team played their first tournament of Rugby league. The whole team had to adapt to the change of a couple of key rules. We travelled to Colchester Rugby club on a crisp autumn evening.
The boys got drawn in a tough looking group with a number of private and grammar schools to play. We started the tournament slightly nervously loosing our first game 2 tries to 1. Nevertheless, Lucas Low and Cameron Burgeman put in valiant performances. This proved to be a huge building block for the team which used this for the springboard for the next couple of games. The next game the boys played very well with huge credit again going to Cameron Burgeman. We won the game 2 tries to 1 with excellent attacking play from Ioan Woodward and Alex Ashworth. Furthermore, Kel Smart and Robert Kolsva made their Hgh School debut. The boys moved onto the 3rd fixture. We started very strongly with Matt Morgan, Jenson Adams and Liam Atkins starting to dictate the play. This contributed to us winning the game 4 tries to 3. Alex Ashworth, Regan Constable and Ioan Woodward scoring the tries. The final game was a crunch game. If we won we went through, if we lost we were out.
The boys put an incredible amount of effort into the game with Harry Pitham trying his hardest to control the game. Unfortunately we lost the game 4 – 0. To summarise the boys played 4 games, 2 won, 2 lost. Cameron Burgeman was man of the match.
