Harwich 10 TTC 10

Year 9’s faced their toughest test so far against a well drilled Tendring side. Right from the start Tendring took the game to the home side and good defensive work from Owen Brand and Harrison Mann kept Harwich in the game. Harwich showed controlled discipline and played with a solid defensive line making it difficult for TTC to break down. However with limited possession and territory much of the first half was played on the Harwich try line. TTC’s persistence paid off and they scored their first try with a well worked move off the back of a scrum.

Harwich stuck to their structure and defended well with Theo Harvey and Joe Taylor making some try saving tackles. Harwich had very limited ball and Sivanjan Sivakumar made the only real line break in the first half. It wasn’t long before TTC scored their second with only minutes to go until half time. Harwich stuck to their game plan and continued to play some excellent Rugby with Charlie Cockburn and Andrew Bird working extremely hard at the ruck area.

From some excellent passing play Captain Jacob Parker fed the ball along the line to Sivakumar who burst through several tackles to score Harwichs first. Harwich were back in the game and starting to dominate. Jackson Rapley had a fantastic defensive game on the wing and on more than one occasion prevented TTC from scoring further tries. A kick through by Parker and an excellent chase lead to No 8 Charlie Gueizelar scoring through several missed tackles to level the game for Harwich. TTC upped their game and again and again attacked Harwich’s line but the Harwich defence remained solid and Harwich could have sneaked it before the final whistle. In the end a draw proved a fair result leaving the championship still all to play for.
