We had a fantastic result as a school on Friday night when Emily Carman claimed second place in the prestigious Jack Petchey Speak Out competition that was held at the Philip Morant School. Emily did us all proud. It cannot be underestimated how difficult it was to stand up on a stage in front of an audience that included teachers, parents, family members, students and the Lord Mayor of Colchester. Not only did Emily participate but she dominated the stage and captivated the entire room like the star that she is. Numerous teachers from other schools complimented Emily and our school. I was extremely proud of Emily and of our school. Please spare two minutes to listen to Emily’s speech. Moments like this are what teaching is about and why we do what we do.
