A group of pupils at Harwich and Dovercourt High School participated in ITV Anglia’s ‘First World War School Report 2014’ project recently.
This was a competition open to schools in the Eastern region. The premise was to come up with an idea for a news report which involved their local area or someone who lived there during The First World War. The report had to be original, fresh and be one which would engage ITV Anglia viewers.
The school’s entry about Harwich’s Captain Fryatt and his brave actions in ramming a German U-boat near Holland during WW1 was praised by ITV as being an exceptional entry. Sadly however it was not short listed as one of the reports to be filmed by ITV Anglia. The school received a certificate from ITV News thanking the pupils for their hard work.
The students who took part in the project were:
Alex Stapleton, Nathan Wels, Ben Manning, Jack McGuire, James Ashworth, Emma Davies, Danielle Richardson, Finn Townley, India Townley, Lesli Turvey, Cameron Dunn, Isola Charlesworth, Brittney Frost, Roberta Howard, Liam Wels, Leo Dace, Jayden Thomas.
